Fam found this place off a YouTube video and it was a definitely a great call. We got the pastrami sandwich and a brisket sandwich and they give a bit of each for you to try as they make it. The sandwiches also come with pickles. The pastrami is incredibly good, very juicy and fatty. The brisket was also good but drier by comparison, and I found myself wanting a bbq sauce for it (which I don’t think they have but I didn’t ask). I’m glad I tried it but next time I’m just going for the pastrami. The sandwiches are large - with my older appetite I probably would’ve killed one on my own but we all eat a bit less now and are saving the other halves to eat later, which is perfect. They take their time making the sandwiches so not ideal if you’re in a rush but the service was great. Already highlighted this place to friends and they’re excited to try it.
Pastrami Bistro in Garfield, NJ absolutely nailed this catered sandwich. The rye came in soft but sturdy, just the way a proper deli sandwich should be – no tearing, no falling apart, even with all that meat packed inside. The pastrami itself was the star: thick-cut, juicy, and loaded with that deep peppery bark you only get when someone actually takes their time with the smoker. Every bite had that perfect mix of smoke, salt, and fat that reminds you why pastrami is a classic in the first place. For a catered order, this was impressive – still warm, generously stuffed, and clearly made with care instead of being rushed through like a bulk order. If this is what they send out for catering, I can only imagine how good it is fresh over the counter. Pastrami Bistro just became a go-to spot for a proper old-school deli sandwich done right.
This was our first time visiting Pastrami Bistro in Garfield, and we were absolutely blown away by both the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food. The process is really unique: you walk in and place your order directly with the person preparing it, and while you wait, they slice a few pieces of pastrami or brisket (depending on what you order) for you to taste. Once your order is ready, everything is packed neatly in a bag, and you head over to the register to pay. We ordered Philly cheesesteak, Reuben pastrami, brisket, pastrami, and two French fries, all for takeout. Every single item was delicious, flavorful, and prepared with care. You can really tell they put passion into their work. There’s also a dine-in option, but for us, the takeout process was quick, easy, and very enjoyable. We couldn’t be happier with our experience. Wishing the team lots of success—just keep up the smiles, the great service, and the amazing food!
Oh my sweet heaven on earth this place is 100% worth the drive from where ever you are located. The pastrami was incredibly juicy, tender and flavorful. They give you meat samples while you wait and the wait was not long at all, maybe 5 minutes from walking in to getting served. We got two pastrami Rueben’s with a side of pickles (half sour, YUM) and onion rings. The sandwich was bigger than my mouth and was a bit messy but the messier the sandwich, the tastier. Prices were great at $17.95 per sandwich plus $1 for the side of pickles. I cannot wait to return to this excellent food joint. Thank you for existing.
The best place of pastrami and brisket I have tried in my life. Multiples combinations of brisket, corned beef, pastrami, cheeses and bread to chose for o to create. Great attention and you can try every kind of meat before make your selection. Excellent choice for meat lovers in New Jersey.
One of the best pastrami joints in NJ. The pastrami itself is GREAT. I wish the rye had a bit more structural integrity because it will begin to fall apart midway through. But great sandwich regardless.
Wowowow!!!!! Plentiful Pastrami - so tender, flavorful and not fatty on rockland bakery rye bread, real sauerkraut, n delicious dressing for the reuben ( 19). Soooo delicious. Huge. Onion rings to die for. French fries delicious. Chef cutting pastrami so nice gave me some tender, delicious pastrami to try even before ordering. Sweet, clean place. Will visit often.
Great Pastrami sandwich. If definitely rivals and can go toe to toe with the Big place on Houston Street in NYC for almost half the price. The French fries can use a little salt, but I will definitely return.
